A super rocking Portugal holiday
Music fans far and wide will be gearing up for a seriously rocking event in the heart of Portugal this Summer, inviting visitors to rock out in style to a line up of legendary acts.
The Super Bock Super Rock festival is a major live music event featuring a collection of star acts, taking to the stage to deliver power chords and chunky riffs galore.
Highlights include the likes of Tool, Korn, Deftones and Franz Ferdinand, as well as Keane, Alice in Chains and Boss AC.
In addition to well-known artists a selection of up-and-coming bands are on the bill, giving audiences the chance to see a new crop of talent live on stage.
Split over two sections, Super Bock Super Rock kicks off over four days in late May and early June.
Partygoers can expect some hardcore rocking in the Parque do Tejo at one of Europe's premier rock music festivals, named after the ubiquitous Portuguese beer.
Catch the next wave to Portugal holidays
Surfers looking for Portugal holidays are being encouraged to check out one of the best destinations in the country for the popular sport - the Silver Coast.
Its range of unspoilt white-sand beaches makes the Costa de Prata one of the most attractive surfing areas in Europe, according to self-catering and camping holidays company Europcamp.
The firm offers accommodation at Sao Pedro de Moel Parc, which is located in a small seaside resort and provides shady pine trees, a swimming pool, table tennis and cycle hire.
In addition, the World Junior Surfing Championships are held nearby every year, which guarantees that the waves should be fittingly impressive.
Eurocamp suggests that people who have usually stuck on the tourist train during their Portugal holidays may want to try this coast, as it is far from the typical crowds.
Leiria, a town which offers a lively market and traditional tavernas and restaurants, is close to the resort.
Other Portugal holidays on offer from Eurocamp include Valverde Park and Quarteira in the Algarve.
During the summer months, those staying in Valverde Park can take advantage of festivals devoted to both sweets and wines, as well as a flamenco festival in September.
International sounds liven up Portugal holidays
This summer, travellers from all over the globe will be gathering for a celebration of international music in Portugal.
Those on Portugal holidays may want to stop by and listen to the different sounds of the Festival Musicas do Mundo (FMM), the country's top world music festival.
Many genres will be represented, from traditional music, folk and tango to jazz, blues and reggae.
During the last weekend in July, FMM will take place across four stages in the municipality of Sines. One stage is located in Porto Covo village, while three others are in Sines town - Sines Castle, the beach stage and the Arts Centre.
The line-up for the ninth edition of the festival includes Ethiopian artist Mahmoud Ahmed, American group Gogol Bordello and Somalian newcomer K'Naan.
Additionally, people on Portugal holidays can look forward to performances from British folk group Bellowhead, Algerian singer Rachid Taha and Croatian singer-songwriter Darko Rundek. In total, 32 shows will be held for FMM.
The birthplace of legendary explorer Vasco da Gama, Sines is found on the south-western coast of the country and is a major industrial and port centre. According to the FMM website, it is home to some of the best beaches in Portugal, which may be another draw to people on Portugal holidays.
